About the Practice

At North Shore Family Lawyers, we provide family law guidance that is clear, practical and carefully prepared.

We understand that no family law matter feels routine to the clients involved. Clients come to us at difficult points in their lives — when decisions about children, property, finances and future arrangements often feel immediate and deeply personal. Our role is to bring clarity to that process, explain the issues in plain language, and help clients move forward with a better understanding of where they stand.

We assist in parenting matters, divorce, separation, property settlement, consent orders and related family law issues. But what distinguishes the practice is not simply the range of matters we handle. It is the way we approach matters that involve greater financial and structural complexity.

The Background of the Practice

North Shore Family Lawyers sits within a broader professional background that began in business, technology and complex legal matters.

Kevin Sun, the Principal Solicitor, holds a Juris Doctor and Master of Laws from the University of Sydney and a Master of Commerce from the University of New South Wales. His background spans legal practice, commerce and project-based work across the corporate sector. This informs a structured and commercially grounded approach to complex family law matters.

The practice focuses on family law matters that extend beyond the straightforward division of assets and liabilities. These matters often involve business interests, trust structures, corporate entities, financial records and broader financial arrangements requiring careful analysis and disciplined preparation.

At its core, the practice is guided by three capabilities: legal analysis, financial understanding and disciplined case management. Together, these underpin its approach to matters involving complex financial structures and competing financial interests and entitlements.

In this context, family law is approached as an extension of complex financial work, where careful attention to structure, documentation, financial position and risk is central to achieving clarity in family law property matters.

How We Work

Clients are often looking for more than legal information. They are looking for a lawyer who can understand the structure of the dispute, explain the options clearly, and help them move through the matter in a way that is practical and well-prepared.

Our approach is grounded in four ideas:

Clarity
We explain the issues, the process and the available options in plain English wherever possible.

Preparation
We place importance on understanding the factual and financial detail of a matter early, particularly where the issues involve assets, liabilities, business structures or trust arrangements.

Judgement
Not every issue should be approached in the same way. Some matters can be resolved constructively. Others require firmer action. Good family law work often depends on knowing the difference.

Practical Outcome
Family law involves real consequences for children, finances and future arrangements. Our focus remains on helping clients achieve outcomes that are not only legally sound, but workable in practice.

Why Clients Come to Us

Clients come to North Shore Family Lawyers for clear guidance in difficult circumstances. Some come because they need help navigating parenting issues or separation. Others come because their matter involves a more complicated financial position and they want advice that reflects that reality.

In either case, the practice aims to provide advice that is careful, measured and grounded in both legal principle and practical outcome.

Clarity for the Road Ahead

Family law decisions often carry significant personal and financial consequences. We provide clear, considered advice to help you understand your circumstances and the options available.
