Kevin Sun
Principal Solicitor
Kevin Sun is the Principal Solicitor of North Shore Family Lawyers. He is admitted to the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia.
He brings together a legal, financial, and commercial background. He holds a Master of Laws and a Juris Doctor from the University of Sydney; a Master of Commerce in Professional Accounting from UNSW; a Master of Project Management from the University of Sydney; and a Bachelor of Engineering from UNSW.
Kevin is also the founder and Principal Lawyer of IT Lawyers Australia.
His work in family law sits within a broader professional background that began in the technology and business sectors. That work involved complex disputes, business structures, financial records, and matters requiring both legal and commercial understanding. Over time, clients increasingly entrusted the practice with family law disputes — including matters involving complex property, trusts, business interests, and parenting arrangements.
In that context, family law was not a departure from complex work so much as an extension of it. Many of the same issues that require care in commercial matters also arise in family law — how assets are structured, what documents reveal, how financial issues are understood, and what practical outcome is ultimately sought.
Kevin is also a Notary Public. A Notary Public is a senior lawyer appointed by the Supreme Court of New South Wales, authorised to authenticate and certify documents for overseas use, often in connection with international transactions and the administration of justice.
He has appeared in significant family law litigation and appellate matters, including securing both the original decision and a successful appeal in Murtas & Murtas [2024] FedCFamC1A 40.
Across family law matters, his work is approached with care, preparation, and close attention to the practical effect of the outcome sought.
